We require a minimum TOEFL score of 80 on the Internet-based test. Teaching Assistants must score a minimum of 107 on the Internet-based test

The Graduate School requires three letters of recommendation from people who can comment authoritatively on your academic achievements and/or work or internship experience related to your program.
A motivation letter must be added to your application.

The Department of Sociology offers a doctoral program that provides scholars the opportunity to pursue the critical study of political economy, culture, power and knowledge, as well as hierarchies of class, race and gender. Program faculty and doctoral candidates come from all corners of the globe, and research supervision is provided for all geographic regions. Prospective students must demonstrate an informed interest in the program and should explore faculty research specializations to see if interests align.
Funding is available in the form of graduate and research assistantships and competitive awards and fellowships. Qualified students are typically eligible for up to 4 years of funding. In many cases, graduate assistantships include medical benefits.
